Summer School FAQs


How do I register?
There are 3 ways:
1. If you have a child going to a Moreland district school, then a packet will be sent home in the Wednesday envelopes around the beginning of April.
2. If not, you can go to our web site www.mefhome.org, click on Summer School in the left navigational pane, and select the grade level you interested in.  (select the grade level your child will be entering in September 2010).  Payment method is via PayPal – you will be given the option to pay be credit card.
3. You may leave your contact information, and we can send you the packet via email or land mail.

How much is it?
Each class is $200 and some will have lab/material fees of $25.  You can sign up for a maximum of 3 classes/periods

What are the hours?
Period 1: 8:30 am – 9:25 am
Period 2: 9:30 am – 10:25 am
Break:  10:25 am – 10:40 am
Period 3: 10:40 am – 11:35 am

The children will most likely move from one room to the next between periods (unless they happen to have the same teacher back to back).  The teachers/staff will help assist them from room to room.

Do I have to sign up for all three periods?
No.  There are three periods in a day, and you can choose to sign up for one, two, or all three periods. 

How early can I drop off my child?
Your child should be dropped off for class no earlier than 15 minutes before the first class starts.

Is there a snack provided for break?
No.  Please provide your child with a snack to eat during the break period.

How late can I pick up?
As we do not have extended care(see next question below), you should pick up your child as soon as the class ends.

Is there extended care after MEF Summer School?
MEF does not provide before or after extended care.  You might be able to bridge the day through the Moreland School District summer camp.  If the camp is on the same site (Payne), then you can also sign up for that camp (which ends at 6pm).  However, at this time, the location for this year’s camp is unknown.   The district staff will be discussing/voting on the summer camp location on Monday, March 8th.  Please contact the district office at (408) 874-2900 for more information.

Payment methods?
You can by PayPal online (has option to pay by credit card), or mail in the registration with a check/money order.

Does my child have to attend a Moreland school to attend?
No.  The only requirement is that they will be entering K – 8th grade in the fall of 2010. 

When will the course schedule for this year’s summer camp be out?
The sample today is from last year.  This year’s schedule will be finalized by end of March, and can be viewed the registration date – April 19th.  You may leave your contact information, if you would like to know sooner.

How many years has MEF run a summer school?
This will be our sixth year.
