Baker Elementary

Baker Elementary was awarded a grant in 2015-2016

Baker Broadcast

This grant alowed Baker to buy 2 video cameras that was used to create short videos about the happenings around the school. The kids learned interview skills, the use of video camera technology and elements of video  producting software like imovie. The videos are share with the entire school so the students get to learn about the school community its issues. 

Educational Enrichment through Family Education Nights

This grant supported two family Education Nights - The Math Education Night and the The Science Education Night. The students and their families will participate in hands on activities and games during the Math Night and the Science Night will be conducted through Children's Discovery Museum.

Baker Elementary was awarded a grant in 2014-2015

Supporting Baker's Destination Imagination State Competition

This grant supported the Baker school’s newly formed DI team of 3rd and 4th graders who took 4th place at the district tournament and competed at the State level.  A grant amount of $500 was awarded to the DI Team.

Baker Elementary was awarded a grant in 2013-2014

Purchasing Baker Bobcat Costume & 2 portable sound systems

Baker elementary used the $3100 grant awarded by MEF to purchase a new Baker Bobcat mascot costume to be worn during the school day and at school functions.  The use of this mascot will foster a school connection for our students and help build a fun community feel for our families. 

In addition they also used the grant money to purchase 2 portable sound systems to be used for activites such as lunch time music/dance activities, parent events such as Back to School Night/Open House, and school wide spirit assemblies.  They are also able to use it for communication with parents during an emergency when students are evacuated onto the field.

Baker Elementary was awarded a grant in 2012-2013

Supporting Baker School Literacy Day 2013

MEF awarded a grant of $1540 to Baker Elementary School which they used towards their School Literacy Day. The grant was used to promote student reading and writing and buying books for the library. Student reading was promoted by an assembly led by a famous author. Books by the author were read prior to and after his presentation. The students participated in activities that reflected their understanding of the importance of reading.  The children also participated in a poster contest that enourages others to read while sharing their own enjoyment of reading. Student writing was promoted by organizing a Young Author Faire where students wrote their own books.

MEF is proud to be a part of an event that encourages reading and writing among the students.
