What is MEF?
The Moreland Educational Foundation (MEF) was founded in 1993 by an all-volunteer group of concerned Moreland School District parents, administrators and local citizens. The primary goal is to provide supplemental financial support to the schools in our District, in the areas of technology, math, science, music and reading, and to assist in the development of new educational programs which offer significant benefits to the students. MEF also wishes to ensure the quality education that makes our area such a desirable living location.
Our Goals & Purpose
The primary goals and purposes of the Foundation are as follows:
-
To provide general financial support for Moreland District Schools, whenever in the judgment of the Directors of this Foundation, funding from public sources is inadequate to provide and maintain consistently high quality educational opportunities, facilities and resources for children of our District.
- To assist in the funding for development of new educational programs, which promise significant contributions to the education of Moreland School District students.
- To provide funding for programs normally provided by Moreland District Schools for which public funding is, for any reason, inadequate or unavailable.
- To purchase or contribute special equipment to Moreland District Schools, or to replace existing equipment for which funding is not available.

Current Focus
Educational funding is still a problem within the state of California. The current funding of our public school system remains inadequate in delivering the programs, staff, and materials needed to provide our children with a quality, well-rounded education.
In fact, research shows that Moreland School District funding per student, ranks far below both the national average and the California average. The sad news is that this gap may yet increase. Thus, community funding of educational programs through the Moreland Educational Foundation (MEF) will play an even more serious role in maintaining the quality of our District schools.
The Foundation holds several fundraising activities throughout the year, including our Annual Pumpkin Patch and Haunted Trail in the Moreland Woods, the Annual Music in Moreland Night ant the Children’s Discovery Museum and our Summer Giving Campaign.
We invite our community to join with us in our efforts and enjoy the community spirit of our wonderful District.
We hope that you will support us.
